Uche Fuels Comfortable Palace Triumph at Irish Side Shelbourne.

Despite embarking on their first-ever continental adventure, Oliver Glasner's side are learning at a rapid pace. Without star players like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the London club left Dublin with a comfortable result that virtually secures them a spot in the Europa Conference League qualifying rounds.

Another three points in their next match against Finland's KuPS ought to be enough to seal direct entry to the knockout stages, especially following a prior stumble against Strasbourg.

Fringe Players Seize the Opportunity

This match provided a chance for some of Palace's fringe talent to impress. Christantus Uche, in only his second start since joining on loan from Getafe, opened the account with a well-taken finish. Forward Eddie Nketiah added a another, scoring for the second game in match.

A Shelbourne team that had concluded their league season were no match even for a largely rotated Palace lineup. The visitors were further weakened by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with knee injuries.

Dominance Established from the Outset

In spite of torrential rain in Dublin, Palace quickly established dominance. A flowing passing sequence in the 11th minute, initiated by Daichi Kamada's clever pass, let Nketiah to set up Uche for a simple finish.

Midfielder Adam Wharton came close minutes later, fizzing a long-range shot over the bar. Nketiah then appealed for a penalty after racing into the area, but the official waved away the protests.

Ex-Arsenal striker did not have wait long to find his goal, tapping home from close range after Uche's shot had struck the post.

Shelbourne were hanging on desperately. Defender Kameron Ledwidge was lucky to escape a booking for two agricultural challenges on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the woodwork with a header from a corner.

Pino Seals the Game

The match was as good as over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past some comically weak challenges before coolly dispatching a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.

After the break, manager Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to withdraw key individuals like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse almost scoring his first touch, but saw his effort blocked.

The youngster was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one attempt strike off each posts before being clasped on the line. Uche then blazed a glaring chance, showing there is still scope for improvement in his game.

The only concern for Palace was a late injury to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This paved the way for 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to make his first-team debut, rounding off an otherwise perfect evening for the visiting side.
